This month I didn’t read as much as I would have liked because there was so much going on with school. Next month, I hope to be able to manage my time better so I can have time for both homework and reading. I really enjoyed The Picture of Dorian Gray because of the way Oscar Wilde constantly uses metaphors and amazing descriptions throughout the novel. At first, it did take a little getting used to, but I eventually came to love it and was unable to put the book down once I started reading. Bone was also really good and different from the other poetry books I’ve read before in the way that she also included some short stories about her life with the formatting of a poem. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest wasn’t my favourite, although I did find it rather interesting. I think the main problem was that I was expecting a totally different kind of story based on the description on the back, and certain parts of it were kind of confusing since the mental hospital was like its own little world with specific terms and names that we don’t use. I have just started Flowers for Algernon and I’m really looking forward to how Charlie will be able to grow and become more intelligent. I was slightly surprised by the way it was written at first and it kind of hurt my head a little trying to follow along, but I actually really like how its Charlie’s journal since we can see how he progresses through his spelling and sentence structure.
